IMPORTANT NOTE:
Hi, my name is Fred Schuitemaker and I'd like to welcome you to my web presentation. I began my career as a saddle maker in Holland, learning the age-old craft of saddlery at a young age from masters in Germany and England. As a dealer for G.Passier & Sohn, I now travel extensively, restuffing and repairing saddles for riders around the world. On the following pages I present to you the range of saddles and bridles which I carry in stock. It's possible to make an appointment for when I am visiting your town (often the Pacific Northwest and Alberta). Just e-mail me or call(604) 264-0102 to schedule one. |

Approximately six months after you purchase a saddle it is advisable to restuff the saddle; this should be repeated about once a year, depending on usage. If your saddle does not fit properly on your horse or does not allow you to sit in a correct position, this problem can be solved by a skilled saddlemaker, who reshapes the saddle to give you and your horse optimum comfort.A poorly fitted saddle that is too low can pinch a horse's back, create pressure points and effect its walk. As well as restuffing and reshaping, I also do other repairs on saddles, such as broken trees, new seats, girth billets, etc. Measuring the Horse and Saddle It is very important that a new saddle fits your horse properly with allowance given for the riders weight. Fred Schuitemaker uses the Saddletech Gauge, the first calibrated instrument to measure the 3-dimensional shape of the horse's back and the saddle. Find out more about the Saddletech System. |
